NOTES ON DC TO DC CONVERTERS.
DC to DC converters take an incoming d.c. voltage, convert it to a.c.,and
rectify the a.c. to produce d.c. again. In doing this they can take a
source that varies unpredictably, like the output of a generator,
and produce a steady, reliable, fixed d.c. voltage. D.C. to d.c. converters
are not normally thought of as tools to prevent radio frequency
interference, but electromagnetic compatibility engineers can
take advantage of some of their innate properties
to solve minor EMI-EMC interference problems. One of the reasons
for this is that many d.c. to d.c. converters have internal filtering.
