NOTES ON SIGNAL LINE FILTERS:
Signal line filters block undesireable radio
signals from coming into or out of your product through its signal lines.
Signal line filters do this while
allowing the intended signals to pass through relatively unimpeded.
Signal line filters may be high pass or low pass filters
They may block high frequencies and allow low ones
to pass through, or vice-versa. Some signal line filters are
"band-pass" filters. They allow a certain range of frequencies to pass,
and block frequencies both above and below this range.
Signal line filters are analog, not digital, devices.
They do not suddenly cut off above or below a certain frequency. Instead,
the filters will "attenuate" (reduce signals) gradually.
Selecting a signal line filter is more complicated than selecting
a power line filter, and is beyond the scope of these basic notes.
To select a filter that will clear up your radio frequency interference
problem without distorting your intended signal, consult a
certified electromagnetic compatibility engineer or the sales engineers
of the suppliers listed on this page.
