Inductors are basic components that are used in Electromagnetic Compatibility ( EMC ) Electromagnetic Inteference ( EMI ) and electromagnetic environmental effects ( E3 ) to build a.c. power line filters, d.c. power line filters, timing and control line filters and signal line filters. When designing Electromagnetic Compatibility ( EMC ) Electromagnetic Inteference ( EMI ) and electromagnetic environmental effects ( E3 ) filters with discrete components like inductors and capacitors and resistors. you may find that the inductors don't always act like they do in the Electromagnetic Compatibility ( EMC ) Electromagnetic Inteference ( EMI ) and electromagnetic environmental effects ( E3 ) textbooks. This is due to parasitic effects. Inductors may have some capacitance and capacitors may have some inductance. The mechanical layout becomes important. Since you may not always be able to buy the exact filter that you need, you may occasionally have to design and build your own.
