NOTES ON LINE IMPEDANCE STABILIZATION NETWORKS
Power Line impedance stabilization networks allow you to mesure the emissions on a power line. Power line impedance stabilization networks (PLISNs), also called Line impedance stabilization networks (LISNs) are TRANSDUCERS. They allow you to connect a sensitive receiver or spectrum analyzer to an active power line without damaging the receiver or spectrum analyzer. They present a stable amount of characteristic impedance, usually 50 Ohms, to the instrument regardless of the characteristic impedance of the power line (which is usually unpredictable.) Like antennas, current probes, and other transducers, Line Impedance stabilization networks must be calibrated periodically.
