Besides the emissions tests required by the United States Federal Communications Commission (FCC), the European Union requires radiated susceptibility (" immunity") testing and certain other tests for electronic equipment that is to be sold in europe. These tests are called out in European Commission Directive # 89-336-EEC, along with its updates and references. Compliance is signified by the "CE" Mark. These unique tests can include electrostatic discharge immunity testing, electrical fast transient pulse immunity testing, and power line ("mains") surge immunity testing.
